Diablo 4: How to Remove Gem?

Gems, a common feature in role-playing games, retain their place in Diablo 4. As in previous installments of the series, some items will have gem sockets. Into these sockets, you can place gems that provide various buffs. The primary function of gems is to give additional powers on top of the base stats of items.
For instance, if a level 12 shield provides you with 100 points of protection, you could potentially add an extra +20 protection with a gem. All gems and their attributes will be random, much like items. Therefore, understanding how to remove gem in Diablo 4 can be quite beneficial as you may want to use different gems depending on your playing style.
To remove a gem attached to an item in Diablo 4, you need to visit Jeweler shops located in towns. There is at least one of these in every major town. As the name suggests, at the Jeweler, you can buy new gems, sell your current ones, upgrade existing ones, or extract the ones in your items. Our interest lies in the last function.

How to Remove Gem:
- Locate a Jeweler in a town or village.
- These shops are represented on the map by a crystal icon.
- Go to the shop and converse with the NPC standing behind the counter.
- From the menu that opens on the left, select the second option, which is the “Unsocket” tab.
- Click on the tool and then click on the item that has the gem you want to remove.
- That’s it! Your gem will be added to your inventory, and you can attach it to other items.
Of course, using this service isn’t free. We aren’t sure whether the prices from the Diablo 4 beta will remain, but we can say that it’s quite expensive. The Jeweler in Kyovashad, the main town in the beta, charges about 3800+ gold for this service. We’ll see whether prices vary depending on the rarity of gems once the full version is released.
