The five most interesting Palworld facts will shed light on Pocketpair’s overnight sensation. Here’s some Palworld trivia for fellow creature-catchers!
Since its foray into early access back on January 19, Palworld has been the only game we’ve been talking about. That’s not unusual considering its incredibly successful commercial performance, which resulted in 7 million copies sold on Steam only.
Knowing that, we feel like we’ll never comprehend the explosive launch of Palworld, along with how its gameplay formula makes us addicted. While we don’t know the answer to that, we do know some of the most interesting Palworld facts that will surprise you as well.
What Are Some Interesting Palworld Facts?
Before we dive right into the most interesting Palworld facts, let’s start with a brief info about tits developer, Pocketpair. Primarily known for its earlier game, Craftopia, Pocketpair was founded by its current CEO, Takuro Mizobe, back in 2015. Since then, the company has released a couple of games, including Overdungeon and, most recently, Palworld.
The company is based in Tokyo, Japan and has also released projects like NeverGrave and Art Impostor.
1. Palworld Sold Over a Million Copies in 7 Hours
Only five days after its release, Palworld sold 7 million copies on Steam. While there is no official information about the sales performance of Palworld on Xbox, it probably generated a massive amount on Xbox as well.
When we take into account that it hasn’t even been a full week, it’s safe to say that Palworld turned into a commercial marvel for its developer.
2. Palworld’s Budget Was Only a Meager 6 Million USD
Palworld’s budget was around 1 billion Yen. That amount translates to $6 million. Considering the colossal budgets of AAA games, it’s just impressive how they’ve already saved the budget in mere five days. In fact, the game sold over a million within eight hours after starting the early access phase.
According to Geoff Keighley, Palworld has now generated nearly $190 million in five days. This is one of the most interesting Palworld facts since this sales figure belongs to the Steam version of the game only. This means that its performance on Xbox isn’t in the equation at all.
3. Someone Has Already Made a Pokemon Mod for Palworld
Although it has been only a few days since the game came out, a modder has already incorporated Ash Ketchum into Palworld. The hilarious Palworld-Pokemon mod received a positive reaction from the fans.
But everybody knew that it was a risky move as well. As expected, Nintendo is faster than light when it comes to sending Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown. The gaming conglomerate sent a DMCA to the modders and made sure the mod wasn’t available online.
4. Palworld on Game Pass Is a Different Build of the Game
Another one among the interesting Palworld facts is about the version difference of Palworld on Game Pass and Steam. While there have been discussions about the build on Xbox Game Pass being older, it hasn’t been confirmed by the developer yet. On the other hand, there are solid version differences between the two versions. For instance, the Xbox build lacks the option to enable DLSS, an essential graphical feature.
Palworld multiplayer also has dedicated server support on Steam. While version differences don’t cause this, there are still a couple of other distinctions between the two builds of the game.
5. The Developer Pocketpair Once Had an Elden Ring Vacation
This one is easily one of the most interesting Palworld facts. Following the massive launch of Elden Ring, the developer Pocketpair announced that some of its members would be eligible for a special vacation. Calling it Elden Vacation, those who completed the game and became Elden Lords didn’t have to go to work until Monday, February 28.
The announcement of the vacation was also quite hilarious. It started with, “It’s assumed that you will not be able to concentrate on work”, and was shared on the X account of the studio’s CEO, Takuro Mizobe.
Final Thoughts
