Pocketpair’s creature-catcher Palworld sold more than 7 million copies before completing a week following its launch. The mindboggling success of it keeps growing by millions in hours.
There is no doubt that Palworld masterfully utilises a bulletproof gameplay formula of Pokemon and base-building. That’s why it did gain a bit of traction before it entered the early access phase. Besides, it’s not unusual to see games like these take over the gaming landscape for a month before losing their lustre, right?
No. That’s because Palworld sold more than 7 million copies and became the 2nd game with the highest number of concurrent players on Valve’s storefront. Despite launching on early access, Palworld on Game Pass and Steam, has had an explosive success that’s worthy of praise.
Palworld Sold Over a Million in 8 Hours

Before we discuss the current sales figure, let’s dial back to the game’s release date on January 19 to comprehend Palworld’s exponential success.
Following the 8 hours of its foray into early access, Palworld sold over a million copies only on Steam. Considering the marketing effort prior to its release, this is even more impressive. Although the gaming landscape has seen ample examples of successful launches, Palworld has turned into a highly surprising commercial success. Because the sales increased exponentially, Pocketpair’s survival game reached 7 million sales in only five days.
Palworld Sold 7 Million on Steam Only

What’s really impressive about the figure is that it describes the Steam sales only. Since Xbox doesn’t disclose sales numbers, we don’t know how the game performed on Xbox consoles. That said, we are guessing that Palworld sold at least 2 million copies on that front as well, considering that it made around $189 million only on Steam.
It’s also worth noting that Pocketpair’s long-awaited Pokemon-inspired RPG beat the record of Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, Elden Ring, and many more in terms of concurrent players. If you are planning to join the hype, do check out our Palworld guide for essential tips.
Geoff Keighley Confirmed: Palworld Sold 7 Million and Made $189 in 5 Days
Another point worth mentioning is Geoff Keighley’s touch on the topic. The Game Awards Host recently tweeted about the game’s colossal success, adding that he confirmed the sales figure with Pocketpair.
Keep in mind that Palworld on PlayStation 5 is not even a reality, and a great majority of the players play the game via their Game Pass subscriptions.
Even when we take those into account, it’s safe to say that Palworld became a massive commercial success for its developer, Pocketpair, which recently tweeted about the game’s future.
According to the developer, a myriad of fixes are on the way. The upcoming content also includes a PvP arena mod, which was one of the burning questions about Palworld’s multiplayer. We also know that they are planning to release new areas and new pals thanks to a FAQ post shared on the Steam community.
