In Tekken 8, we will return to the wonderful adventures of Jin Kazama and watch as mysteries unfold. However, there might still be questions in your mind. In this article, we will dive into the details of Tekken 8 cross-platform support. Before that, you might want to take a look at the system requirements.
As one of the longest-running video game storylines, Tekken 8 will see the return of Jin Kazama as a playable character. There will be 32 characters in total, with three new additions to the roster. But that’s enough, let’s talk about Tekken 8 cross-platform support.
Tekken 8 Cross-Platform Support
Tekken 8 will have cross-platform support, as it will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. In other words, you will be able to play this game on whichever gaming console you want, or you can also use your computer to play it.
However, it is important to note that the game will not be released on any previous-gen consoles, such as PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
Fighting games are mostly regarded as console games, thanks to their arcade origin. So, like Mortal Kombat 1, Tekken 8 will be focused on next-gen consoles. But there is one big difference: Tekken 8 will not released for Nintendo Switch.
It’s pretty clear why Tekken 8 decided to skip the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game is fully developed using Unreal Engine 5, so we’re in for some seriously jaw-dropping graphics. To keep up with this high level of visual fidelity, the developers had to leave the previous generation consoles behind. It’s a tough call, but for the sake of top-notch graphics, it’s a sacrifice that had to be made.
Does Tekken 8 Have Cross-Play Support?
Yes, Tekken 8 will have cross-play support when it comes out. This is the first time in the history of the Tekken franchise: Thanks to the cross-play support, you will be able to play with your friends even if you do not have a preferred gaming platform in common.
This was confirmed via Twitter by the game’s director, Katsuhiro Harada. In April of 2023, Hara confirmed this by tweeting that “Cross-play? Of course, I will.” Harada also makes it clear that though the team had intended the previous generation of consoles also to have cross-play support, “They were at odds with each other over their mutual interests.”
What’s more, he also claims that the platforms would repeatedly refuse to allow for cross-play support. However, we are happy that this is not the case anymore. So, if you were waiting for Tekken 8 cross-platform and cross-play, this is your day.
Tekken 8 Cross-Progression Support
Currently, there is no information as to whether Tekken 8 will have cross-progression support or not. However, since both Tekken 8 cross-platform and cross-play options are available, this may very well be the case.
Nonetheless, take this with a grain of salt. There is no official information regarding such details about Tekken 8. We will update you if any information regarding Tekken 8 cross-progression support comes out. So, do not forget to stick around for that until all new games of January 2024 are out.
Final Thoughts
As of now, we have nothing more to say about Tekken 8 cross-platform, cross-play and cross-progression support. We are so excited for this game to come out on January 26, 2024. We will definitely make use of Tekken 8 cross-platform and cross-play abilities to battle it out with our friends. You can trust us to update you if we hear any more news.
