Capcom and TiMi Studio Group have announced Monster Hunter Outlanders, an ambitious new mobile game set in the popular Monster Hunter universe. This entry promises to deliver an authentic hunting experience tailored for smartphones, blending open-world survival gameplay with familiar series mechanics and modern social features.
Although there is no official release date yet, several playtests are planned as Capcom and TiMi work toward perfecting the title before its official launch.
Monster Hunter Outlanders is Not TiMi’s First Rodeo
Building on the success of other mobile adaptations by TiMi Studio Group, such as Call of Duty Mobile and Pokémon Unite, Monster Hunter Outlanders aims to deliver an authentic hunting experience with a twist. Unlike past mobile iterations, Monster Hunter Outlanders’ vision is a fully-fledged game with expansive, interconnected environments, character collection, and multiplayer capabilities.
Producer Dong Huang of TiMi Studio Group highlighted the ambition behind the project: “It’s time for mobile players to fully enjoy what makes Monster Hunter one of the most beloved franchises in gaming. Monster Hunter Outlanders not only offers players an authentic hunting experience, but it does it in a massive open world featuring the community and social systems players are looking for today.”
In addition, Monster Hunter Outlanders sets itself apart from other mobile titles like Monster Hunter Now, an augmented reality game released by Capcom and Niantic in 2023. While Monster Hunter Now took a page from the Pokémon Go playbook with real-world exploration, Outlanders will offer a more comprehensive and traditional Monster Hunter experience. This shift aims to attract fans who crave the depth and complexity of console games but with the flexibility to play anytime and anywhere on their mobile devices.
What Players Can Expect in Monster Hunter Outlanders?
A Vast, Dynamic World with Old and New Companions

The initial trailer revealed a world teeming with classic and new monsters, including familiar creatures like Anjanath and Great Jagras. The game will feature multiple biomes with unique flora, fauna, and environmental challenges. Players can traverse these regions using various mobility tools, including a glider reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Crafting individualized gear and tools will be essential for survival and hunting efficiency. Players can harvest resources from the environment, allowing for extensive gear customization and tactical flexibility. Whether you’re setting traps, crafting potions, or upgrading weapons, Outlanders promises deep crafting mechanics that enrich the hunting experience.
Besides, Monster Hunter Outlanders wouldn’t be complete without the presence of trusty companions. Fans can expect to see familiar Palicoes and new sidekicks that aid in gathering resources, distracting monsters, or supporting hunters during fights. These companions bring a touch of charm and utility, making each quest more engaging.
Character Collection, Crafting, and Gear Customization

Moreover, adding a twist to the standard Monster Hunter formula, Outlanders will feature a character-collection system similar to Genshin Impact, allowing players to recruit various characters as they progress. These characters will serve as allies and can be directly controlled, offering new strategies for team-based hunting. This mechanic introduces a layer of tactical depth and replayability, encouraging players to find the best combinations for different hunts.
Furthermore, as with traditional Monster Hunter titles, Monster Hunter Outlanders will offer in-depth crafting options. Players can collect resources and forge custom gear, enhancing their hunting arsenal to adapt to various biomes and monsters. This element ensures that strategy and preparation remain central to the gameplay, allowing players to personalize their experience.
Solo and Multiplayer Gameplay

Besides in-depth crafting options, Monster Hunter Outlanders will maintain the traditional Monster Hunter gameplay with an optimized battle system to suit mobile devices, ensuring that players can enjoy fluid and dynamic combat.
The game will also include a range of weapons from the mainline series, offering the same variety that fans have come to expect. Players can wield great swords, dual blades, long bows, and more, allowing them to approach each hunt with a strategy that fits their playstyle.
In addition, whether you prefer to take on the wilderness alone or as part of a team, Monster Hunter Outlanders has you covered. The game also supports solo play and multiplayer hunts for up to four players.
Lastly, TiMi Studio Group has confirmed that Outlanders will integrate social systems and regular world events, creating an evolving game environment that encourages community engagement. This feature with cooperative gameplay aims to sustain a dynamic player base long after the initial release. While details on these events are still under wraps, they may include time-limited hunts and unique monster encounters that incentivize teamwork.
Release Date Plans and Parting Notes

Monster Hunter Outlanders signals a bold step forward for Capcom and TiMi Studio Group as they adapt the beloved franchise to the mobile platform by combining expansive exploration, cooperative gameplay, and the beloved monster-slaying mechanics.
Though Capcom and TiMi have yet to announce an official release date, multiple playtests are planned before the global launch. These will provide a sneak peek at the gameplay and allow developers to fine-tune the mechanics based on community feedback.
Meanwhile, Capcom is gearing up for the release of Monster Hunter Wilds, set to debut on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC on February 28, 2025.
