Five-Star Units

1. Baby Blue (S-Tier)

The Baby Blue is a strong Mental damage support that solely focuses on boosting the damage of Mental teams. She has long-lasting debuffs and a control ultimate. She does lack damage herself in exchange for her capabilities as a support. Great when paired with the likes of Charlie and Matela.

• Role: Mental damage support
• Specialisation: Boosting Mental teams
• Ideal Pairing: Charlie, Matela

2. Charlie (S-Tier)

Charlie is a DPS character who does a lot of damage when conditions are met. Her conditions become much easier to meet at Portra 3, at which point she’s considered one of the best Mental DPS at the moment. Both her skills do a high amount of single-target damage, and her ultimate can also dispel enemy buffs.

• Role: DPS
• Specialisation: Mental damage
• Ideal Pairing: Supported by Mental defense-targeting units

3. Corn Bloom (A-Tier)

Bloom is an absolutely insane Reality sub-DPS who is juiced both on DPS and damage. Her debuff skill can apply long-lasting debuffs that increase the damage potential, and her damage skill is on the upper side in terms of damage for an AOE skill.

• Role: Reality sub-DPS
• Specialisation: High DPS, debuff application
• Ideal Pairing: Works exceptionally well with Reality DPS such as CIA or Lydia

4. BL Part (B-Tier)

BL Part is an extremely useful healer for the early game in Reverse 1999 and doesn’t need to be raised due to her healing skill of missing health instead of her stats. She’s very good as a healer for any team, even into the late game.

• Ideal Pairing: Healing skill based on missing health

5. Satsuki (C-Tier)

Satsuki is a CC specialist whose kit is full of regency, which becomes petrified in two stacks. She also petrifies the enemy with the highest attack when she dies, which can be helpful in some stages. Her skills’ damage is rather impressive with her deck behind tier two and tier three skills, which makes her difficult to use.

• Specialisation: Petrification and crowd control
• Ideal Pairing: Teams that benefit from crowd control and petrification

6. Sono (C-Tier)

Sono is a strong free five-star who you will get through beginner missions and tasks in Reverse 1999. Her disarm ability is quite easy to access, and her buffs are reasonable. She’s very beginner-friendly, but we do get our hands on much stronger support later on.

Six-Star Units

1. Durst 3 (S-Tier)

Durst 3 specialises in two things. The first thing is her ability to apply petrify pretty consistently with her skill and ultimate. The other thing is that she empowers the survivability of her team by granting her team members with energy upon getting a petrify and gaining damage reduction and attack boost upon getting petrify.

• Role: Petrify specialist and team support
• Specialisation: Consistent petrify, team survivability
• Ideal Pairing: Teams that benefit from petrification and energy generation

2. Knight (A-Tier)

Knight is the only six-star spear DPS we will have for a very long time in Reverse 1999. He’s exceptional at killing mobs, and his Insight gives up to an 80% damage boost against enemies at low health. 80% is a very insane number. He also cycles to his ultimate very fast due to his skill providing himself Moxie, and his ultimate also provides the team with a single-use 50% damage boost if it kills an enemy.

• Role: Spear DPS
• Specialisation: Mob control, increased damage against low-health enemies
• Ideal Pairing: Highly effective against low-health enemies

3. Centurion (A-Tier)

Centurion is the most broken standard DPS in Reverse 1999. Crazy high base attack value with a crazy high damage boost when adding high Moxie. Overall, just a broken character that will carry you throughout the game. Best paired with Corn Bloom, which will also have very good damage and is able to reduce enemy’s defences. You can also pair her with Tenant, who is also capable of reducing enemy defence but doesn’t do as much damage and is more defensive.

• Role: Standard DPS
• Specialisation: High damage output, Insight boosts performance
• Notable Trait: High base attack, exceptional damage output

4. Madison PCK (B-Tier)

Madison PCK is the best healer in Reverse 1999 when it comes to survivability. She’s good in the early game and has some damage boost capabilities in her skill. But by 1.2, the true meta healer, Tooth Fairy, comes out on top. She pretty much quits out the meta at that point. The meta healer becomes so in demand, leading teams, and Tooth Fairy with another DPS carry. Plus, even if you don’t have her in the early game or even late game, Bloom Party can provide enough survivability with less investment due to percentage healing.

• Role: Healer
• Specialisation: Early-game healing and damage boost
• Ideal Pairing: Effective in the early game, consider transitioning to Tooth Fairy for optimal healing in the late game

5. Reckless (C-Tier)

Reckless is the poster child of Reverse 1999. She generates Moxie relatively fast and has a strong ultimate with the ability to apply Dodge to the entire team, which makes them completely immune to non-ultimate damage for one turn, assuming they don’t act afterwards. Her Insight makes her much better to act every other turn, and this means she is better used as a DPS with another carry, or you can combo her with Piko from patch 1.1, who has very similar kits.

• Role: DPS and support
• Specialisation: Moxie generation and team-wide Dodge application
• Ideal Pairing: Secondary DPS alongside another carry or in combination with Piko from patch 1.1 for synergistic kits
