Sons of the Forest made its initial debut in February 2023 with the release of its early access. While this early access was only available for PC, the game gave a comprehensive glimpse into the game mechanics, which garnered widespread praise from fans.

Regarding the Sons of the Forest release date, the game is set to leave its early access phase and fully launch with its v1.0 patch on February 22, 2024. Everything We Know About Sons of the Forest v1.0 Gameplay

That said, not much has been released regarding the content and specific updates included with the 1.0 release.

That said, alongside the announcement of the Sons of the Forest release date, the developers also revealed that the actor Shawn Ashmore, known for his roles in the X-Men movies and Tim Breaker in Alan Wake 2, will be voicing Timmy LeBlanc, an important character in the game’s story. Why is this new important? Well, the Sons of the Forest’s early access barely explored the story of Timmy. In the true ending of The Forest, we see Timmy survive and suppress his mutations. 

After that, we see him researching a new site, the island Sons of the Forest is based on. When Sons of the Forest early access was released, fans were disappointed with the lack of story development for Timmy’s character. While Timmy did make an appearance in the early access version, he had no voice, and his story was left completely up for speculation. It was evident that Endnight Games was saving the full story of Sons of the Forest for its full release.

It is also worth mentioning that The Forest also didn’t have any voice acting for its character. Therefore, with the addition of Ashmore, players will be able to enjoy a more immersive gameplay experience with the Sons of the Forest full-release version.

However, having such a prominent actor voicing the character is definitely a telltale sign that Timmy will play a significant role in the story of the game and will introduce us to a ton of lore about the world of Sons of the Forest. Players definitely have a lot to look forward to apart from the Sons of the Forest release date.
