DLCs usually aren’t announced until well after the game’s release and initial gameplay phases. However, Frontier Developments has left all those stereotypical rules behind and has already mentioned future plans for the Realms of Ruin DLC. While we don’t know much about its contents, players are able to pre-order it with the digital version of the game already. Read ahead to find out more about the Realms of Ruin DLC release date.

Does Realms of Ruin DLC Have A Release Date?
Frontier Developments was quick to mention the release of DLC content but never revealed when players could look forward to seeing it in-game. The game dropped on 17th November, and even after almost a week of gameplay, we’re yet to hear a word about the release date of Realms of Ruin DLC.
What we do know about the DLC is that you can purchase it with the Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin Ultimate Edition, and it will automatically be unlocked on your account once it’s released. It is priced at $74.99 with the Ultimate Edition and $8.99 separately. It should be noted that the Ultimate Edition will have some other goodies in-store for players besides the $60 base game and the DLC. We also know that when the game’s physical copy drops in February 2024, players will be able to buy both the game as well as the DLC hero packs together.
If we talk about the DLC’s contents, it is basically two different hero troops that will be released within the game. If you’re interested in only one of the DLC packs, you can buy them separately for $4.99 as well. Now let’s talk about what the DLC packs are going to have and whether or not the Realms of Ruin DLC is worth it.
Realms of Ruin DLC Packs Contents
So, as we mentioned before, the Realms of Ruin DLC will be broken down into two Hero packs. They both contain hero troops you can substitute into your army to make use of their special skills and unique abilities.
The first is Yndrasta, the Celestial Spear. She is a champion for the Stormcast Eternals who can buff your allies and cause havoc amongst the enemy line with massive crowd control effects. Being a flying hero, it is easy for her to fight from afar, diving into the enemy core when things get tough with her spear, Thengevar.
The second is Gobsprakk, the Mouth of Mork. The orc-shaman is the hero representing the Orruk Kruleboyz, a powerful faction of orcs who rely on their sheer numbers to overpower the enemy. Gobsprakk is also a flying hero who can shoot devastating projectiles from afar, raining death and destruction on your opponent while steering clear of any actual danger. He’s projected to be super mobile, making him an even bigger menace on the field.

Will There Be Future Hero DLC Releases for Realms of Ruin?
If you’ve been reading along this far, you’ll have realised that both DLC hero packs are for two of the four factions within the game. However, don’t worry if your favourite faction is yet to get one. With the game just being released a week ago, we expect future hero DLC packs to contain heroes for the other two factions as well.
DLC content besides hero packs hasn’t been confirmed yet, and we haven’t heard of anything being in the works either. Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is a real-time strategy game, which means they might focus more on multiplayer and Skirmish modes compared to the single-player Conquest mode that follows the main storyline. Still, it isn’t wrong to be hopeful for some more story content in the future Realms of Ruin DLC.

The Takeaway
Frontier Developments were pretty quick to mention that they’ll have downloadable content releasing and that players can actually pre-order the DLC before the game release. This is a bold move, considering we don’t even know when the DLC is expected to drop, but whenever it does, we’re hoping it lives up to the hype and the community’s expectations.
