After its initial launch in November 2023 and success with Modern Warfare 3’s season 1 Reloaded, many players were eager for what’s in store for Call of Duty season 2. While players already knew that three new maps of 6v6 multiplayer were arriving in Call of Duty season 2 due to Sledgehammer’s promise that the first two seasons of MW3 would include three new 6v6 maps each, there were still many things season 2 could bring.
Today, the developers have unveiled its Call of Duty season 2 roadmap with many new additions and content arriving to MW3 and Warzone on February 7. In addition, fans can expect a crossover event with The Walking Dead launching on February 28, with skins and characters such as Rick Grimes and Michonne joining the fray in the new battle pass.
However, these are just the tips of the iceberg, as we will uncover all the new features arriving in the Call of Duty season 2 update below.
Call of Duty Season 2 Roadmap
As shown above, the Call of Duty season 2 roadmap portrays what people can expect in the new season of Call of Duty with new maps, modes, weapons, a new Zombies story mission, the return of Fortune’s Keep, Resurgence Ranked Play, and more arriving in Warzone and MW3 in a week’s time.
Call of Duty Warzone
Firstly, Call of Duty Warzone will welcome the return of a refreshed version of Fortune’s Keep with 11 different points of interest for players to check out. The island also has three extendable bridges that can expand and retract for vehicles to drive across or plummet down, depending on the settings, and it is up to players to sweep the area for threats, both human and undead after a massive explosion spread across the island and letting loose an unceasing, undead threat.
Moreover, the refreshed map will include several new events and features, such as:
- Contract to Eradicate Zombie Nests: With increased undead activity across Fortune’s Keep, players can activate the new contract by investigating corpses and following the tracks to a Zombie Nest. Players must destroy the cysts and any Zombie HVTs within the nests to complete the contract.
- Zombies Power-Ups: Players can find seven power-ups such as Double Points, Full Armor, Max Ammo, Fire Sale, Looting Spree, Zarkour, and Undead Sigh from opening certain caches and eliminating enemy Operators.
- Rogue Signal Public Event: All participating squads will have a 90-second objective-based mission such as “Get the most eliminations” or “Deal the most damage to enemy players”. The best three will receive in-game cash and cache rewards.
- New Score Tracker for Squad Wipe Streaks: A new tracker that displays how many enemy squads you have eliminated back-to-back.
- Same Ranked Mode: Ranked Play with the same fundamentals but with Resurgence rules for the first time.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3
As for Call of Duty season 2 in MW3, it will prioritise its multiplayer features with three new maps called Departures, Stash House and Vista. A new revamped Das House will join in the middle parts of the season, while two additional maps will arrive for the Vortex Mid-Season Event: Airborne and Skidrow. There is also a new War map called Tin Man, where the attacking team must find a way into the building, complete the mission, and move on to extraction as the other side defends the building and attempts to run down the clock.
Furthermore, many new limited combat modes, such as Team Gun Game, Snipers Only and Hordepoint, will arrive on the day Call of Duty season 2 launches. On the other hand, mid-season content like Juggermosh, Bounty and Vortex will arrive with new zombie rifts, missions, challenges and schematics during the Vortex Mid-Season event.
Lastly, a new ninja vest and new warlord would be arriving in MW3, with the former able to eliminate your Operator’s footstep sounds and become immune to movement reduction effects. As for the latter, the Warlord Keres is a deadly and elusive chemical warfare specialist that utilises traps, turrets and her speciality poison gas to kill her trespassers. Therefore, players must bring their gas masks and have cohesion teamwork to take her down in her fortress.
Call of Duty Crossover Event with The Walking Dead
Before Call of Duty season 1 ended, the massive news arriving in Call of Duty was the crossover event with the popular zombie apocalypse TV show The Walking Dead. To commemorate such an occasion, Call of Duty released a YouTube video that recreates The Walking Dead’s classic show opener using shots from what looks to be MWZ’s Urzikstan map with the same grimy sepia filter and iconic music.
As for the events arriving with the crossover event, players can earn XP to unlock exclusive rewards from The Walking Dead. For example, the Call of Duty Season 2’s battle pass features The Walking Dead’s main protagonist, Rick Grimes, as one of its instantly unlockable skins, and fans can purchase The Walking Dead’s Michonne from the in-game store beginning on February 8.
What Other Contents Will Call of Duty Season 2 Bring?
Besides the events we touched upon above, Call of Duty season 2 will implement additional events throughout the next couple of months, such as Horde Hunt, Year of the Dragon, Cryptid Bootcamp, Vortex: Decay’s Realm, and Dune: Rule of Fate.
