PlateUp! is finally getting its long-awaited console release after prior delays and players are hyped. With the indie food simulation game arriving on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, fans have geared up to get their hands on the game as soon as possible. But for Xbox Game Pass players, the question remains: Will they have to buy the game or is there PlateUp! on Xbox Game Pass? Let’s answer that alongside some additional information.
Will There Be PlateUp! On Xbox Game Pass?
Yes, PlateUp! will be available on the Xbox Game Pass as soon as it is released. The co-op game with some kitchen madness is set to be available on the Xbox Game Pass on February 15, 2024. This was mentioned in the list of games Microsoft announced it would be adding to the Game Pass in order to help people get more value out of it.
Alongside PlateUp!’s release, we’ll be seeing Persona 3 Reload, Anuchard, and Open Roads also being added. With PlateUp! on Xbox Game Pass, you won’t have to buy the game separately and can join in on that rogue-like cooking action from day 1. Don’t miss out on the chance to take control of your restaurant and boss your friends around to start a culinary revolution.

PlateUp! On Xbox Game Pass Announcement
Interestingly enough, PlateUp! on Xbox Game Pass is not new information. The indie food simulation game was announced last year at the Nintendo Indie Games Event and it had been revealed that the game would be a Game Pass title. Even though they faced some delay and had to shift the release date from late 2023 to early 2024, the game is finally coming to the Game Pass in February.
In an interview with developer Alastair Janse van Rensburg and Yogscast managing director Simon Byron, they expressed how excited they were to bring PlateUp! on Xbox Game Pass. Seeing success from the restauranteering masterpiece’s release on PC, they were comfortable unveiling it from consoles as well, hoping it would receive the same admiration it did from PC.
Delay in PlateUp! Console Launch
If you’ve been closely following PlateUp! release news, you will have heard about the original release date being shifted a few months forward. PlateUp! was originally set to be released on November 2, 2023, on Xbox Game Pass. However, due to some compatibility issues, the game’s release was delayed until February 15, 2024.
Now that we finally have official confirmation about the release, we will be seeing PlateUp! on Xbox Game Pass very soon.

PlateUp! Gameplay
We’ve talked extensively about the release of PlateUp! on Xbox Game Pass. Now it’s time to see what exactly you are getting yourself into. For those who have played Overcooked, the gameplay won’t feel too different except for some key features, but here’s a rundown for everyone else.
The roguelike cooking simulation game places you in a restaurant either by yourself or with 4 other people. Your aim is to get through 15 gruelling days of running a restaurant by yourself. From prep time to automatic machines, everything is in your grasp depending on how well you’re doing. There is a constant line of customers waiting at your doorstep to be served and they don’t have a lot of patience in this cartoonish kitchen-mania game.
Cooking isn’t all you need to focus on though. Upgrading your restaurant, automating processes, basically streamlining the entire process from chef to customer, all of it falls in your lap. Now the question is, can you live up to the task of serving your customers the best culinary experience they’ve had?
