The new Steam cosy game Fields of Mistria has only been in early access for 10 hours, but the game is already a massive hit as it reached the Top Sellers chart on the PC platform.
Developed by NPC Studio, Fields of Mistria is a new farming and life simulation game inspired by the beloved title “Stardew Valley“. For example, the former shares the 90s aesthetic of the latter and offers farming, exploration, relationship-building, and customisation to create a compelling and immersive world.
Besides Stardew Valley, Fields of Mistria takes notes from Harvest Moon’s success by incorporating NPCs, each with their own stories, personalities, daily routines, and relationship paths. However, as it is still in early access, romancing is incomplete, as we can only get up to 4/10 hearts.
Everything to Know About Fields of Mistria
Story and Gameplay

Fields of Mistria revolves around your life as an adventurer in the rural town of Mistria. As you familiarise yourself with the village, where you can interact with over 30 villagers, plant over 50 crop types during different seasons, unlock magical abilities to improve farming, and romance 12 characters, you slowly uncover the history of Mistria, which leads you to a mysterious discovery in the old mines outside town.
Like Stardew Valley and other farming simulators, players can craft tools, upgrade equipment, and construct buildings. Crafting and building are essential for improving the farm and unlocking new gameplay features. Moreover, players can spend their leisure time fishing and cooking, as cooking is more significant in this game due to its high stamina consumption.
In addition, players can explore forests, caves, and other mystical areas. Exploration is crucial to gathering rare resources, uncovering secrets, and completing quests.

Seasonal Content and Character Interactions
As mentioned above, Fields of Mistria features a dynamic world with changing seasons. Each season brings unique events, challenges, and festivals that players can participate in. As the seasons change, the farming system becomes more intricate, with players growing seasonal crops, managing livestock, and harvesting produce to earn in-game currency and resources.
In addition, since the game will be in early access for around a year with regular content updates, we can expect the developers to expand on its already brilliant character interactions. For instance, the villages gather at the local inn every Friday night to enjoy fine wine, card games, and DND (Dungeons & Dragons).
Furthermore, the characters’ dialogue changes depending on what’s happening around them, meaning they comment on what they or you have achieved, the weather in each season, and more.
