The beloved Prince of Persia series is back, and it is more exciting than ever. We now have clear information as to the whereabouts of this game. If you are looking for answers on Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown release date, platforms, and gameplay, you have come to the right place.
Before we start to dive right in, we need to make one thing clear: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is not a remake or a remaster. It is an entirely new major instalment in the Prince of Persia series. The creator of the Prince of Persia series, Jordan Mechner, also said that this was the Prince of Persia game that “[He has] been wishing for”.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Release Date
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is set to release on January 18, 2024. It is one of the most anticipated games of the year, and we are looking forward to playing it.
The last time that we got such a major instalment in the Prince of Persia series was more than a decade ago. Ubisoft released Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands in 2010. Needless to say, it has been a while, and we miss going back into this wonderful series.
The Forgotten Sands was a major hit, but the game is very dated now. We have so many new technologies currently, and we are sure that all these technologies will be implemented beautifully into Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
Furthermore, it seems that Ubisoft has a lot to offer this year: Some are confirmed, and some are merely rumours. However, we are now waiting for Skull and Bones, Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, and much more to be released in 2024.
Platforms
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is going to be released for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. This means that you can play this game on almost any console that you want. We love to see such an extensive cross-platform support.
Gameplay
In a classic Prince of Persia fashion, this game is also defined as a 2.5D side-scrolling platformer action-adventure. As the protagonist of the game, Sargon, you will be able to jump, slide, and air dash. You get twin blades to fight with, and you also have a special ability bar from which you will be able to unleash an unstoppable attack onto your enemies.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown also has Metroidvania-related features, such as interconnected rooms one after the other. The map also contains secret rooms and shortcuts that can only be reachable after you get a certain type of ability. What’s more, you will also need to solve some puzzles to progress through the game.
You will also have time-based powers. This means that Sargon can jump forward through time. There’s also this ability named “Shadow Marker”, which can be summed up as leaving a temporary checkpoint. You will be able to return to this checkpoint if you wish to, kind of like going back in time.
Another important aspect of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a Persian-themed game. So, you’ll find a classic feeling while playing it.
Mounir Radi, the director of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, said that he aimed to “Bring some light to a mythology that maybe should be better known”. We can hardly wait for its release date to come.
Final Thoughts
Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown might be the adventure that we had been looking for. The gameplay seems fun, and getting to experience a new Prince of Persia release is such an exciting chance. We cannot wait to get our hands on this game and tell you all about how it went.
We hope to have answered your questions about Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown release date, platforms, and gameplay in this article. Stay tuned for more information, and we will inform you if we hear more news. In the meantime, you may enjoy reading about Tekken 8.
