Fans eagerly awaiting Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 were treated to quite the spectacle during PlayStation Showcase 2023. Not only was it announced that Kraven the Hunter would be one of the main antagonists in the game, but a fantastic gameplay trailer was also revealed. It seems we’ll be able to switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales from one episode to the next with the touch of a button. Whether this will be a free switch, similar to GTA V, is unclear, but the Spider-Man 2 gameplay certainly looks amazing. Here are all the details.

Spider-Man 2 Gameplay Trailer

Insomniac Games released two different trailers. The first was a cinematic video showing Kraven the Hunter in search of a worthy opponent. His men locate the Spider-Men, and Kraven relishes the discovery of his next big hunt.
The second video is a gameplay video where we first see Peter Parker in his symbiotic black suit. Peter certainly appears stronger and more dangerous than in the first game. Given we know Venom will be in Spider-Man 2, we can almost be certain that this suit will lure Peter to the “Dark” side as the story progresses.
The video continues with Miles Morales covertly neutralising street gangs. All the mechanics we know from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales are presented intact. However, it’s worth mentioning that the animations seem smoother. Additionally, we can now glide between buildings. This looks like a great alternative to the classic spider webs.

Release Date

No official release date has been announced for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. But developers have confirmed it will be landing on our consoles come Autumn 2023. A little bit of patience is needed here, as we still have around four months to wait.
Don’t be misled by the prospect of controlling two different Spider-Men, though. The developers have confirmed there’ll be no co-op feature in this game. Spider-Man 2 is solely about your solo journey – so, whether you’re under the mask of Peter or Miles, the hero’s path is yours alone to tread.
Before we forget, if you’re looking to refresh your memory or dive into the Spider-Man universe for the first time, both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales are playable on PC, PS5, and PS4. As for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, it’s an exclusive title for the PlayStation 5 – just another reason to make the move to the next-gen console, if you haven’t already.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will Spider-Man Come to PC?
Regrettably, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will swing onto the market as a PS5 exclusive. Like the previous games in the series, we’re predicting it’ll stay that way for around two years. But don’t fret, PC players – just as we saw with the original game and Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2 is likely to web-sling its way onto your platform once that period is up. It seems Sony’s strategy of eventually bringing its exclusive titles to PC is set to continue.
Who Is Kraven the Hunter?
Kraven the Hunter, first reared his head in The Amazing Spider-Man #15, published way back in 1964. In the Marvel universe, he’s not just any villain; He’s specifically got Spider-Man in his sights. In Spider-Man 2, developed by Insomniac Games, things won’t be any different. He’ll be out to hunt down Peter Parker and Miles Morales, eager to prove he’s the greatest hunter in all the land.
Does Spider-Man 2 Have Venom?
Yes, it’s confirmed – Venom will be making a grand appearance as a major adversary in Spider-Man 2. His likely permanence for the future instalments of the series suggests he’s here to stay. It’s no doubt that both Peter Parker and Miles Morales will face their greatest challenge yet in this trilogy. We can’t wait to see what Insomniac Games does with this fascinatingly wicked character.
