In a Twitter post yesterday, Developer Nacon announced that they are delaying Terminator: Survivors, its open-world co-op game, from its original October 24 early access release date to an unspecified date in 2025.
According to the post above, Nacon explained that additional time is necessary to realise their ambitious vision and the fan’s expectation for Terminator: Survivors. In their own words, “To realise our vision and to make sure to deliver the game that fits your expectations, we need some additional time. Thus, we will be pushing the launch to 2025.”
Moreover, the studio acknowledges that its decision may disappoint its long-awaiting fans. However, they still firmly believe in delaying Terminator: Survivors as “In the long term, we believe this is the right call.”
Fans Remains Supportive Despite Terminator: Survivors Delay

Amidst the announcement of delaying Terminator: Survivors, Nacon must have expected fans to voice their disappointment and frustration. However, contrary to their belief, their fans remain supportive, as some even begin quoting famous lines from the series, like “The future is not set. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves.”
Many also stated their preference for a delay over a rushed release, as they would like to avoid the fate Wuthering Waves fans shared, requiring many post-launch updates to address bugs, optimisation and performance issues.
While there is still a minority expressing doubts and concerns about the game’s internal situation, the majority are in favour of delaying the game to ensure a smooth and immersive open-world experience during launch.

Everything to Know About Terminator: Survivors
Story and Setting
According to Creative Director Marco Ponte, “Terminator: Survivors takes place in a yet unexplored timeline of the Terminator universe. With a completely original storyline that includes famous characters and new ones, where you’ll learn about the beginnings of John Connor’s resistance.”
For additional info, the game sets itself in 2009, just a few short years after Judgment Day – when Skynet became self-aware and launched a nuclear war against the world’s superpowers.
As for the story, after the Skynet invasion in the Terminator universe, you emerge from your shelter for four years and strive to rebuild society. Your mission involves scavenging for vital resources, information, and fellow survivors to establish a foothold in the hostile landscape. In your journey, you must constantly evade and combat Skynet’s relentless machines programmed to eradicate any remnants of humanity.
Gameplay and Platforms

As a post-apocalyptic survival game, Terminator: Survivor will feature base-building elements, where you and other FBS resistance fighters can establish bases of operations to overcome the threat posed by Skynet. As Ponte mentioned: “You’ll explore a wide-open world, scavenging for resources that aren’t just for your survival but also for managing and improving your base.”
In addition, while you can finish the game solo, Ponte emphasises the game’s multiplayer mode, where you can “join forces with other survivors” up to four per team. However, there is one opponent you cannot destroy or defeat, which is T-800.
T-800 is the series’ newest inclusion, as Necon draws inspiration from Resident Evil antagonists like Mr. X and Nemesis. It is a single, relentless enemy that stalks players throughout the game, creating a sense of dread as players have no choice but to run to survive the unstoppable force.
Regarding the game’s platforms, it will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Unfortunately for older-gen console holders, the game will not be on PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch, as one would presume the difficulty in software and hardware optimisation.
Closing Notes
Terminator: Survivors’ delay to an indefinite release date in 2025 may have dampened people’s expectation of trying out the game in October. However, we respect Necon’s honesty in delivering a finished product rather than a near-complete product.
