Stray, the unique and critically acclaimed video game developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive, is finally making its way to the Nintendo Switch platform on November 19. Originally released on July 19, 2022, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC, Stray quickly captured the hearts of players and critics alike with its distinctive premise, charming protagonist, and immersive world.
The game even received multiple awards for its attention to detail towards its cat protagonist, winning the Best Indie and Best Debut Indie at the 2022 Game Awards and the 2022 PlayStation Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Award.
Now, two years after its initial debut, Stray is finally heading to Nintendo Switch, as players can finally experience the essence of being a cat in a dystopian world filled with heart and mystery.

Stray Nintendo Switch Port Releases on November 19
After its initial release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC, Stray made its way to Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One a year later, followed by a macOS version later that same year. Thus, with more and more platform releases without Nintendo Switch in sight, players began patiently anticipating a port release soon.
As Stray is BlueTwelve Studio’s first and only game released so far, players were far more lenient with the developers, unlike what is happening with current HoYoverse games.
Anyhow, BlueTwelve Studio has answered Nintendo Switch players’ prayers, with the game finally heading to their platform, and we can expect the game to function smoothly with detailed optimisations, bringing the emotional journey of the cat, which resonated with many others.
Everything to Know About Stray
Story and Plot

As the name per says, players control a stray cat navigating a mysterious, dystopian city populated by robots. The setting is a beautifully realised cyberpunk city inspired by neon-lit, rain-soaked streets of classic science fiction. The world is eerie and enchanting, and you will have to use your agility, curiosity, and cleverness to explore the environment, solve puzzles, and uncover the city’s secrets.
Throughout your journey, a drone named B-12 will accompany you by assisting with tasks such as translating the language of the robots, hacking into systems, and storing items. If you are stuck, B-12 also serves as a guide and provides hints to help players navigate the world.
In your journey through the city and interacting with its inhabitants, you will explore themes of isolation, survival, and the search for belonging. While there are only a few dialogues in the game, it communicates a lot through its world design, character animations, and music.
Gameplay Features

Firstly, Stray emphasises exploration and environmental puzzles. For example, the game encourages players to explore the richly detailed cyberpunk city, filled with reward curiosity, numerous hidden areas, shortcuts, and collectables to discover. Players can also interact with various objects in the environment, such as knocking items off shelves, pushing open doors, and triggering mechanisms that may unlock new paths or reveal secrets.
Keeping in theme with the game, Stray allows players to use cats’ natural abilities, such as squeezing through tight spaces, jumping across rooftops, and interacting with objects. You can even perform typical cat actions like scratching surfaces, meowing, and even curling up to nap.
Lastly, in certain parts of the game, the cat must avoid or outsmart enemies such as the Zurks, a primary small, aggressive enemy type creatures that swarm the cat rather than engaging them directly. To outmanoeuvre these threats, players must utilise stealth sections to remain out of sight or chase sequences that require quick reflexes and navigation.
Parting Notes
All in all, Stray’s arrival on Nintendo Switch is much welcome as players can experience the game that is whimsical and thought-provoking, blending exploration, puzzle-solving, and storytelling in a beautifully crafted world.
Moreover, the game is receiving an animated film adaptation by Annapurna Animation, the studio behind Netflix’s Nimona. Thus, players can look forward to that in the coming future.
