As you’d expect from a FromSoftware game, the hardest Armored Core 6 bosses will test your patience and urge you to throw your controller at the screen.
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon brings back the action-fused mecha battles of FromSoftware’s long-running series. Although the last entry before Fires of Rubicon landed back in 2013, Armored Core 6 shows that the celebrated gaming studio hasn’t forgotten its ways of tailoring solid Armored Core games.
There is no doubt that Fires of Rubicon is one of the best Armored Core games. At the same time, it’s also one of the best games with highly challenging boss fights. We will be focusing on the hardest Armored Core 6 bosses on this list to prove that argument.
5. Ice Worm
Ice Worm is not only one of the hardest Armored Core 6 bosses. But it’s also one of the most unique boss encounters in the entire game. That’s because it requires you to take it down with the help of some notable pilots at your side.
Taking down Ice Worm requires you to manoeuvre around the battlefield until the right time to attack comes. You also need to equip a special weapon, Stun Needle Launcher, to take down Ice Worm with the rest of your crew.
All these factors make Ice Worm one of the most exciting and also challenging boss encounters in the game. It also reminded us of one of Elden Ring’s Great Rune carriers, the Starscourge Radahn.
4. Sea Spider (IA-13)
One of the hardest Armored Core 6 bosses will try to tear you into pieces in the early game. Sea Spider, also known as IA-13, is a Type-C that belongs to the Institute. In Armored Core lore, that means it’s one of the most dangerous war machines that ever walked on the Rubicon.
The whole battle of Sea Spider is a testament to that argument. That’s because this Chapter 2 boss fight requires you to utilise your mech to its fullest. You need to make sure you are avoiding attacks to get closer for a solid attack. When it starts exploding Coral, then you must switch to long-range attacks.
On top of that, Sea Spider starts flying and goes full scorched earth on you, making itself one of the hardest Armored Core 6 bosses ever.
3. Ayre (IB-07: Sol 644)
Going in a certain direction in your playthrough will have you encounter Ayre, your Coral companion on Rubicon. Also known as IB-07, Ayre is one of the hardest Armored Core 6 bosses to beat. It’s incredibly fast, both in terms of attacks and movement.
Fighting Ayre requires you to avoid her attacks and keep an eye on her at all times. But what sets Ayre apart from other bosses in the game is her one-hit attack that feels impossible to avoid. She almost makes you ask for a co-op mode for Armored Core 6.
2. IB-01: Cel 240
There is no doubt that anyone would agree with Cel 240 being one of the hardest Armored Core 6 bosses. This incredibly fast, powerful, and two-phased boss will test your patience like no other. That’s why the Armored Core community regards her as the Malenia of Rubicon.
While you encounter Cel 240 in the later stages of the game, you are still unlikely to feel that you are ready for it. It teleports around you while tearing your mech apart with Coral beams, lasers, and missiles.
1. Arquebus Balteus (AAP07A)
Balteus tops the list of the hardest Armored Core 6 bosses. This flying fortress of massive firepower meets you once again in Chapter 5 during the mission called Destroy the Drive Block.
As if taking it down the first place wasn’t exhausting, Arquebus Balteus comes with a series of new and highly lethal attacks. Of course, it also comes with a colossal health bar alongside an energy barrier that omits your fire and missiles, making it one of the toughest bosses in games.
Final Thoughts
Despite their incomprehensible attacks and big health bars, the hardest Armored Core 6 bosses are some of the best aspects of the game. Similar to other bosses in FromSoftware games, they encourage you to play the game repeatedly to master your build.
Since getting mech parts in Armored Core 6 can be easy, we strongly recommend diving into New Game+ in the game to make the most of it. It allows you to try out other builds and unlock new bosses as well.
