After a three-year-long wait since the previous update, we finally have news of a Stardew Valley update 1.6 via the creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Baron. While the 1.5 updates provided us with an absurd amount of content, such as new areas to explore, new enemies to fight, and several life improvements, fans still fear the worst as speculations flood around the developer, switching his attention to the release of Haunted Chocolatier.

However, after keeping his silence since July, ConcernedApe has now taken online to offer news regarding Stardew Valley update 1.6. For example, he shared a mysterious teaser that hinted at the details in the 1.6 version of the game. Today, our Stardew Valley enthusiasts will dissect the teaser and provide our readers with things to expect in Stardew Valley update 1.6.
Stardew Valley Creator Teases Stardew Valley Update 1.6
After a short 2-month hiatus, the Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe took to Twitter today and shared an image teasing Stardew Valley update 1.6. The picture shows a parrot on a stand bearing the symbol of the Joja Corporation. Moreover, the parrot appears to be requesting gold coins, the game’s primary currency. If we take a closer look, we can make out that the parrot is somewhere in the area of Ginger Island, the new map released in the 1.5 updates.
If we dive into the game and head to the location depicted in the image, we can see no such feathered creature on the stand. Thus, there is almost a certain chance that the parrot will arrive in Ginger Island as part of the Stardew Valley update 1.6. However, what does it all mean? Check out our analysis below.

3 Things to Expect in Stardew Valley Update 1.6
The most significant piece of info we can conclude from the picture is that Stardew Valley update 1.6 could focus on gold coins. If you may not notice, the primary currency in the game has little to no use in Ginger Island, as the progression arc focuses on Golden Walnuts instead. Thus, could the new Stardew Valley update 1.6 introduce gold coins as an alternative to obtaining luxurious rewards, or is it a limited feature for players siding with the Joja Corporation? 1) New Festival
Besides the mysterious parrot, Stardew Valley update 1.6 will introduce a new festival, as confirmed by the creator on July 17. Festivals are a staple in the game as the once-a-year events become staples of their respective seasons. For example, Spring, Summer and Autumn have two festivals, while Winter has three festivals, including the Night Market. However, some may argue the Night Market does not count as one since the shop remains open during the day.
Nevertheless, this new festival will bring even more excitement, especially with rumours speculating it as a New Year celebration. While we are unsure of the reliability of the speculations, we can expect the New Year Festival to take place either on the last day of Winter or the first day of Spring.

2) New Secrets and Dialogues
Within the same tweet, ConcernedApe hinted that Stardew Valley update 1.6 will include more dialogues and secrets in the game. From the ambiguous message, we cannot pinpoint any links directed to the existing content in the game. However, there are existing Easter eggs in the game that players still have not resolved.

For instance, we have yet to uncover the identity of the Wizard’s daughter and the actual presence of alien creatures in Stardew Valley. While lore surrounding the Dwarves hinted they may be of extraterrestrial origin, we still are unsure of the true nature of the seemingly alien Strange Capsule. Thus, this could be a good opportunity for them to further the plot regarding these beings.
3) New Items
If you cast your mind back to May, you may recall a tweet by ConcernedApe titled: “iridium scythe.” For those not familiar, Iridium is one of the most coveted crafting materials you can get your hands on in Stardew Valley, and the scythe is the only tool without an Iridium version.
Furthermore, the Golden scythe’s only purpose and benefit is to allow players a better chance of getting hay and certain crops at a larger radius. Moreover, if you unfortunately lost the Golden scythe, you cannot replace it. Thus, the developer could rectify the problem by introducing this new item as a craftable replacement and improving on the stats of the Golden scythe.
Conclusion
While Stardew Valley update 1.6 will not be as content-heavy as 1.5, there are still features waiting for us to explore. For example, a new creature, festival, items and dialogues are enough to satisfy us for the foreseeable future. What are your thoughts regarding the updates?
